Meet Rebecca Adams, MA, LMFT
Rebecca believes that therapy does not always have to be serious and negative. She enjoys laughing in sessions and helping you connect with what gives you life and meaning. She’s not one to focus on all of the things that could be wrong with you, but is more interested in what is right with you, what strengths that you have that will help you overcome the difficulties that you are faced with.
Rebecca’s therapeutic super power is validation. She believes that your emotions and experiences are valid, whatever they are. Rebecca’s philosophy is that your story matters, and you matter. She can dive into reflection and processing or she can wade with you from the shallow end so you can get a feel for what therapy is all about.
Rebecca’s hope is that when you finish therapy, you will have more self-compassion, more self-awareness, and new skills to help you cope with whatever challenges you are facing. Rebecca helps you make peace with your past so that painful memories or triggers don’t derail you.
Rebecca has a relaxed, gentle, creative approach. She doesn’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” therapy approaches. Rebecca has training in various evidence based therapeutic approaches, but does not want to stick to a method or protocol if it’s not working for you. Rebecca invites feedback and collaboration at every stage of the process.
Rebecca founded Elevate Counseling Center, LLC in 2017 after working in the mental health field since 2005. When not at work, Rebecca keeps busy with her husband and three children. She enjoys writing, reading, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and finding ways to be creative and active.
